Tattoo After Care

What to do…

1- Uncover tattoo after 2-4 hours. Wash your hands with an antibacterial soap BEFORE & AFTER contact with your tattoo. Rinse the area carefully with warm water. Lightly brush off any excess ink and blood. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

2- Let tattoo dry overnight. Your tattoo may “leak” blood, fluid and ink for the next day. Avoid contact with sheets and clothing until your tattoo is through seeping. Do not recover the area.

3- Do not put anything on tattoo for at least 2 days, let it dry out. You can apply a fragrance free lotion such as Eucerin Aquaphor Advanced Therapy. Apply only a small amount on tattoo.

4- Your tattoo should peel like a sunburn and be tender for the next couple of weeks. A tattoo usually is healed in four weeks.

5- DO NOT PICK YOUR TATTOO, scabs go deeper than color, you pick a scab and you pick out color.

WHAT TO EXPECT…

1- Tattooed area may be swollen and red for the next couple of days (possible but unlikely). Ibuprofen should help decrease swelling and pain. (If there is any pain).

2- IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING YOUR TATTOO PLEASE CALL AT ANYTIME.

3- Do not use any scented lotions or soaps on your tattoo while it is healing.

COMMON SOURCES OF INFECTION

1- Dirty hands, clothes and linens
2- Pet hair and dander
3- Too much contact with tattooed area
4- Swimming in Rivers, Lakes, Pools and Baths
